Pordenone turns the spotlight on the clarinet: the fifth edition of the International Festival “Portus Naonis” is unveiled

On Friday 16 May, against the picturesque backdrop of the Casa della Musica ‘Elisabetta Imelio’ , a press conference was held to present the 5th International Clarinet Festival ‘Portus Naonis’ , scheduled to take place in Pordenone from 29 May to 1 June 2025.

Organised by SiNota – Scuola di Musica Città di Pordenone, the Festival reaffirms its status as an event of international renown, dedicated entirely to the clarinet, featuring concerts, talks, young talents, renowned maestros and events taking place throughout the city centre.

The year 2025 marks a real turning point for the event, with the introduction of two new international competitions – for solo clarinettists and for composers of clarinet ensembles – and the arrival of ten clarinet ensembles from across Europe for an unprecedented musical celebration.

‘An edition that aims high, ready to put Pordenone at the centre of the European cultural scene,’ said Massimo Micossi, president of SiNota, ‘as part of a journey leading up to Pordenone’s designation as European Capital of Culture 2027.’

During the conference, the return of Maestro Paolo De Gaspari was also announced; he is one of the key figures in the ‘musical snippets’ dedicated to the technical aspects of the instrument. His talk will focus on the innovative Légère synthetic reeds, which are increasingly appreciated for their quality and tonal versatility.

Also present at the conference were the Mayor of Pordenone, Alessandro Basso, and the Councillor for Culture, Alberto Parigi, who enthusiastically emphasised the value of the event: “A format that combines excellence, education, discovery and participation, placing Pordenone at the forefront of the international music scene,” said Parigi. “A festival that strengthens the city’s cultural identity and propels it towards ever more ambitious goals,” added Mayor Basso.

With the involvement of local organisations, the support of institutions and the presence of key partners from the world of music, the “Portus Naonis” Festival is set to deliver a memorable edition, capable of speaking to all generations through the universal language of music.
